Closed rooms, deep and secure, filled with screens and layouts of maps, resources, and current events. Strategies and plans are stretched out to cover a myriad of possible outcomes. Weighed according to favour and gain. Gain and glory are taken into account, and the cost is counted and condensed. Decisions regarding options are turned over in the minds of statesmen and generals. The careful birth of a plan takes shape.
These plans are set against the plans of others, jousted and wrestled with, while the veils of motives and movement are slowly lifted at the right time. The councils of nations, in their strength, slam against each other, and the world shudders under its weight.
The nations of the world make many plans. They move resources around and work hard to manifest their dreams and goals.
Yet, beyond and above the shaking of the world, God sits enthroned in His glory. Powerful plans of nations crumble when they collide against His purpose. His will prevails and lasts without end. His plan spans generations and is beyond our insight. Safely trust His ways and rest in His generous peace. For if chaos burns and He wills peace, no amount of pain or power can thwart His purpose. He is faithful.
How much more will He guide and care for us on a personal scale? Even though people plan against us for their own gain and glory, His plan will prevail. He turns even their plans toward His purposes. Trust in Him.
Lord, thank You for Your wisdom in knowing all things and how all things work, and what the best way to the best outcome is. Give us peace even though we feel the pressure of the events around us, whether world events or personal circumstances. You know the best way; let us hold fast to You and follow You. Your ways lead to peace and rest. To You be all honour and glory. Amen.
